Kyunki Saas Bhi Tulsi

The longest running daily soap in the history of Indian Television has undoubtedly been Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi which has been running for almost 8 years on Star Plus channel with more than 1800 episodes. This was the first serial which invented the "saas bahu" concept which later became the story of almost all popular daily soaps. The serial had been consistently running high on TRP for years and this "saas bahu" saga seemed to be the choice of almost every housewife. Tulsi, the main protagonist of the serial became a household name and the producers Balaji Telefilms raked in huge moolah. Ekta Kapoor the head of Balaji Telefilms also bombarded a series of K-serials based on the "saas bahu" concept like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. There came a time when she was called the queen on Indian Television and no television channel even dared to say anything to her.
